The mission of International Awareness & Involvement is “to promote and enhance global citizenship within our sisterhood, by broadening the knowledge and understanding of other nations, increasing interest in international affairs and developing a greater appreciation for different backgrounds and cultures.”

Johannesburg, South AfricaADELAIDE TAMBO SCHOOL FOR THE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED/2002

The Adelaide Tambo School, formerly known as JC Merkin School, was established in 1980. It provides education for students with physical, mental, and learning disabilities from grades 1 to 12. The school is located in Soweto and currently serves 381 students.

Mbabane, SwazilandDELTA HOUSE/VASHTI VILLAGE/2002 – ORPHANAGE FOR CHILDREN OF AIDS VICTIMS

Delta House is an orphanage for children who lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. It was built in 2002 with funds raised by Delta sorority members. The orphanage is located in Vashti Village and provides a home for 12 children. The village also includes a vegetable garden and plans for future development.

Durban, South AfricaTRAINING RESOURCES IN EARLY EDUCATION- T.R.E.E./1984

Training Resources in Early Education (TREE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting quality early childhood development for children ages 0-4. TREE provides training, resources, and integrated services to support the holistic development of young children.

Thika, KenyaTHIKA: MARY HELP OF THE SICK MISSION HOSPITAL /1969 – MATERNAL HOSPITAL

The Mary Help of the Sick Mission Hospital was established in 1969 with the support of Delta Sigma Theta sorority. It provides essential prenatal care and maternity services to women in Kenya. The hospital continues to be operated by the missionary sisters of the Holy Rosary.

I CAN FLY HIGH SCHOOL /2013

I CAN FLY International helps young people in disadvantaged communities access quality education and resources. Their programs support early learning, teacher development, and community resources to improve the lives of children and families.


MANCAKOS: MUINDI MBINGA SECONDARY SCHOOL

Muindi Mbingu Boys Secondary School is located in Ngelani, Kenya. It is a public school with an enrollment of 369 students and a student-teacher ratio of 26:4. The school has 14 teachers.

CHἘRETTE: DELTA SIGMA THETA SCHOOL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL /2013

The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Elementary School, The Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre Campus, opened in Chèrette, Haiti, in 2013. This school was established in partnership with Water in Education International to provide education and clean water to children in the remote village of Chèrette, located 96 miles southwest of Port-au-Prince. It is the first of several planned initiatives to improve access to quality education in Haiti.
